Final Technology

Today was the last class of technology at Tamaki College for the year 8’s at Glen Innes School, the graphics class were finishing up their nightlights. We got our piece that Mrs Sparks cut out thought the week and we tried to glue them together with this glue but it didn’t work so we used another glue and we had to wait for awhile and it stuck so we glued all the parts together.

The lights for our project didn’t arrive yet so Mrs Sparks Is waiting for it so the she can put it together and send it to us in the week, some of us used wood and the others used plastic all we had to do was glue our piece together and finish because we had plastic and it all ready had colour but the people that had wood could paint it whatever colour they wanted. This is my design for the nightlights.

Technology

Today at tamaki college we had technology and the graphics group was measuring and cutting out our parts for our nightlights. It took long for one person to cut out their pieces because the laser cutter was slow and there were a lot of us and everyone had a lot of details in the design. Mrs Sparks helped us to measure and make sure that our base is the right measurement so went we put it together it’s perfect.

Mrs Sparks said that is she going to try and cut out as many of our pieces so that when we go back next week all we got to do is put the piece together and we are finished. Next week is our was week for technology so we have to be quick next week so that we finish early.

Technology

Today the year 7 and 8’s went to tamaki college for technology. I was in the graphics group and we were design our final design on the computers so that when we are finish we can put it on the laser cutter and it will cut it out. We put our shapes and design on a google drawing and coloured it the colour we wanted but there were only a few colour because we were using plastic but our teacher Mrs Sparks said that we could use wood but then we would have to paint it later. We also did our measuring to make sure that the height and the width are the measurements we want.

Haiku

Today our class created a poem not just a normal poem it’s a poem from Japan and it’s called haiku, the haiku has three lines the first and last line has 5 syllables and the second line has 7 syllables and has to have exactly 7 and 5 syllables also it won’t work.

Technology

Today the year 7 and 8’s went to tamaki college for technology. The graphics group are design a nightlight if you don’t know what a night light is it is a light that has a design on the back and front it uses a battery of plug. Today we were finishing off our design for it and learning how to work a laser cutter because we need it to cut out our pieces for our nightlights. First we went to Mrs Ferguson’s class because that is where the laser cutter is we went in groups and got instructions to cut out name tags. After that we tied a string to and wrote on our paper how it worked.

Technology Graphics

Today in Graphics we cut out our design for what we wanted on our night lights to look like, our teacher Mrs Sparks wasn’t here today so we had Mrs Ferguson. Mrs Ferguson told us to cut three different shapes and draw a design on it, the three shapes were a triangle, square and a circle we measured and cut out the shapes and folded it to make our shape. We drew our design on it and we could cut the design out so when you turn on your night light the light shines out thought the design, my design was under seas so like turtles, fish, seaweed and coral.

This is a picture of a night light.

Sports camp

Last week 36 students from Glen Innes School went to Totara Springs Christian Camp in Matamata. We left on Monday morning and got there in the afternoon, when we got there we got our directions to our cabins and meet up near the boys cabins and waited for our instructions.

We stayed there for the whole week until Friday, everyday we would wake up at 6am get ready and got to breakfast around 8. After that we would do our cleaning jobs and go to quality living, it’s in a little room were everyone had to squash in and they read bible verses and have a 10 question quiz everyday and talk about quality values. Then we would go get our gear ready and go to our first sports, we would at least have 10 different sport each day.

But Friday was a fun day and prize giving we had breakfast and did our jobs then we were play around on the bouncy pillow and the lullaby, we had tagger war and we made the finals but the boys lost but when it was girls and boys we won, there were 10 schools there and it was big. I enjoyed it at sports camp and it was fun.
